What is your role(s) at Busseys?

I work with Kitty who is an Apprentice Administrator and together we are the Group Administration Team, covering HR, Administration, and Health and Safety matters across the whole Company.

How have you found our experience of working in your role?

I was attracted to Busseys because it’s a family business which has been running for over 100 years and to the role because I enjoy helping people, I like variety and using my organisational skills. Every day is different and also extremely busy, with constant requests and challenges to solve. The Busseys’ team consists of some amazing people, all working hard to keep our customers happy and achieve the best results we can while having some fun along the way. That’s what we call “Being Busseys.”

Susie

“I’ve also been given the opportunity by the company to expand my skills on a digital level”

Hi, my name is Susie and I have been with Busseys for nearly 6 years now. This was my first office job since finishing University in 2014 as well as my first job in the motor trade.

What is your role(s) at Busseys?

I started at the company as a Trainee Marketing Assistant and have since gone on to have a few different job titles from Marketing Assistant, Social Media Marketing Specialist to my current title which is Marketing Team Leader. My role is to work alongside my colleagues to create effective marketing campaigns, produce content for our website and social media pages, monitor our live chat, social media, and Whatsapp profiles, and look at our analysis each month to see how we are performing and how we can improve.

How have you found our experience of working in your role?

Overall I’ve enjoyed my experience in my role, it’s been stressful and challenging at times but that’s all part of the role. I’ve gained a lot of experience about how the motor trade works and I’ve also been given the opportunity by the company to expand my skills on a digital level. This has involved the company actively encouraging myself and my colleagues to join training courses that are relevant to our roles, my latest achievement being my Google Ads Search Accreditation. As far as creating social content is concerned, I’m given quite a lot of control and free reign (within manufacturer standards) to try new things, no idea is seen as a stupid one which is great. The team I work in is quite small but we all bounce ideas off of each other and not only work well together but we get on with each other as well which is always a bonus.

Rachel

Hi, my name is Rachel. I was born in Hellesdon, Norwich, where I live now, I have been married for 30 years this year. I have 2 grown-up children, along with a dog, cat & parakeet (who I found on my doorstep a year ago), and yes, they would like to eat each other!!

I love F1, and am a keen supporter of Lewis Hamilton, and enjoy going to Silverstone if I can.

What is your role(s) at Busseys?

I have worked in Busseys Accounts department for almost 25years and met many characters over my time, the most frightening is now working with some young people who are younger than my children, makes me feel old hahaha!!

How have you found our experience of working in your role?

I enjoy working in purchase ledger, and what I do day to day & how it has evolved over the years to a virtually paperless office. There is a good relationship between colleagues, and I like the environment to be light-hearted, a little laughter now and again promotes productivity!

Personally, I like to deal with issues as quickly & efficiently as possible, remembering that even if you don’t have the answer right away, keep people informed whatever! There are many colleagues throughout Busseys, and you learn to adapt to individual personalities & respect/respond accordingly, and always treat people the way you wish to be treated!!

The workplace has certainly changed since I began working-aged 16 in a builder’s merchants, including the “banter”, which would be very much frowned upon today!! However, times have changed, and workplaces have become fairer, kinder & accepting to all.

“There is a good relationship between colleagues, and I like the environment to be light-hearted, a little laughter now and again promotes productivity!”

Gemma

“Everyone I have worked with or had the pleasure of meeting has been wonderful”

Hello! My name is Gemma and I have been with Busseys for 5 years, but within the motor organisation for 8 in all. I started working when I was 17 years old so I have really grown up within the trade. I have worked in numerous positions over the years, meaning I have an extensive knowledge which I use almost every day.

What is your role(s) at Busseys?

The main role I have held is as a Service Advisor. In this role, I would greet customers as they leave their vehicles with us for servicing and maintenance work, ensuring that I maintained contact with them throughout the day until the work was completed and lastly making sure that their collection of the vehicle was pleasant. A lot of the role is making the process as smooth as possible for the customer, while also ensuring we are adhering to the high standards that Ford and Busseys have set for us to follow. There is a lot of satisfaction to be had knowing your customer is satisfied with the service you have personally provided them. Occasionally, you do have hiccups and issues can arise, so ensuring that these are tackled within a timely manner all adds to the customer experience. Other roles I have had previously include Workshop Control, which means I would allocate the customer’s vehicles to the Technicians for the work to be completed. This role requires a lot of organisation and good communication skills, as you are the liaison between the Technicians and Service Advisors. I have also been tasked with Warranty Administration, which means processing claims to Ford for work the Technicians have carried out, as well as Sales Administration, which involves preparing the documentation for new and used vehicle purchases ready for the customer to collect.

How have you found our experience of working in your role?

Each of these roles varies between what procedures need to be adhered to, but one thing is always at the focus of every task that is completed, and that is the customer! As I mentioned previously, I have always felt such satisfaction for the service I have provided to customers over the years. It’s even more satisfying when you see them time and time again. With repeat customers, you do build that rapport with them and know about their personal lives. There is something really special about that. Another key element that has helped me with my career through Busseys has been the staff. Everyone I have worked with or had the pleasure of meeting has been wonderful. I couldn’t have asked for a better team to work with over my 5 years; whether they have been Service Advisers like me, Sales staff, or those in the offices. I’m glad to have been part of this family.
